Would do a high tea little cucumber. Sandwiches all sorts of scones cream puffs Yum.
Mmmmm….would love to get Emeril’s recipe for The Cuban Sandwich for when my book club discusses Pedro Juan Gutiérrez’s “The King of Havana.”
We’re reading The Exceptions, so I would serve an Italian BMT, since it’s based on an Italian mob
I would serve crisp cucumber sandwiches with tea for a period novel! I would need to follow with scones, jam & cream!
Egg salad supreme would suit while we discuss Gone with the wind
Last month, my book club read Hide Me Among the Graves by Tim Powers. Since that book is all about vampires, I’d want to do a really garlic-y sandwich…maybe grilled cheese with roasted garlic? And some sliced beets to stand in for a bloody element.
I would serve Emeril’s Kicked up Cuban sandwich at a bookclub meeting to discuss Diane Mott Davidison’s Crunch Time. In the book there is a mysterious Humberto Captain, who shares her Cuban heritage.
I would do a luncheon with all “old style” sandwiches – egg salad, pimento cheese, PBJ, and then have in between some kicked up sandwiches.
